Thank you: 50th Annual Gallie Day & Gordon Murray Banquet
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the University of Toronto Department of Surgery, I would like to thank everyone who participated in and supported our 50th anniversary Gallie Day and Gordon Murray Banquet.
Every year, Gallie Days brings the U of T Surgery community together to celebrate the collective impact of our achievements in research and education. The 2024 milestone edition of this annual event was an incredible day of sharing and learning that culminated with a special anniversary dinner and awards ceremony.
A particular highlight was the Gordon Murray Lecture delivered by Dr.John Meara of Harvard University, who is Professor of Surgery and plastic surgeon-in-chief at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Meara spoke on the theme of social responsibility in pursuing global health equity. It was an enlightening presentation that inspired and uplifted all who attended, and we are grateful to Dr. Meara for sharing his insights with us.
Later that evening, guests at the Gordon Murray Banquet celebrated the recipients of our annual Department of Surgery awards for excellence. You can learn more about the individual awards and see this year’s recipients listed below, and at our Gallie Day page.
I was especially pleased to have the opportunity to catch up with many of our Department’s alumni and donors throughout Gallie Day. Your positive feedback on the day and evening program was heartening to receive.
