Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the University of Toronto Department of Surgery, I would like to thank everyone who participated in and supported our 2025 Gallie Day and Gordon Murray Banquet held on May 2nd.
Our 2025 Gallie Day brought members of the U of T Surgery community together to celebrate the incredible impact of our research and education initiatives.
The 2025 Gordon Murray Lecture was delivered by Dr. Liane Feldman, Edward W. Archibald Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at McGill University and Surgeon-in-chief at the McGill University Health Centre. Her talk, titled “Getting to mastery: The promise (and pitfalls) of Video based analytics in surgery” was both, inspirational and enlightening.
We are very grateful to Dr. Feldman for sharing with our community her insight and aspirations regarding the integration of modern technologies in the surgical field.
During the evening, our community members got together for the 51st Gordon Murray Banquet and awards ceremony to celebrate the recipients of our Department of Surgery excellence awards. You can see this year’s recipients listed below, and on our Gallie Day page.
Please enjoy the photos of both, the day and evening events, as well as the Gallie Day recording which is now available for viewing on our YouTube channel.
