Dr. Calvin Law attended the University of Toronto’s Medical School and completed this in 1994. Dr. Law then immediately entered the General Surgery Training at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Surgery in 1999. During his residency, he developed an academic interest which led him to Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he completed a Masters of Public Health in 2002. From 1999 to 2001, he was also able to complete a clinical fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto. He was then appointed to the surgical staff at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and as an adjunct scientist at the Institute of Clinical Evaluative Sciences. He is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto, with a cross appointment to the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. His clinical practice is devoted to Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology. His research is focused on health services research and population studies, especially in the delivery of care and outcomes in patients with surgically treatable cancer.
