The Department of Surgery is delighted to announce that Dr. Shaf Keshavjee (MD, MSc, FRCSC, FACS) has been elected to fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada (RSC).
Dr. Keshavjee is Professor and Vice Chair of Innovation in the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. In addition to his clinical practice in thoracic surgery at University Health Network, Dr. Keshavjee is a senior scientist at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute (TGHRI), and Director of the Latner Thoracic Research Laboratories at UHN.
Recognition by the RSC is the highest honour in academe, and includes inductees from the broad fields of Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Sciences. Fellows are elected by their peers based on their outstanding scholarly achievements, and outstanding contribution to the well-being of Canadians.
On Friday, November 14, 2025, the RSC will induct the 2025 Fellows and Members of the RSC College at a ceremony in Montréal, Québec.
