Dr. David Rothenberger

RothenbergerDr. Rothenberger is an internationally recognized colorectal surgeon and the former Jay Phillips Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota (UM).  He served as president of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and the Research Foundation of the ASCRS. He was past Chief of Staff and member of the Board of Trustees of the UM Medical Center and Vice Chair of the Board of UMPhysicians and its Sr. Vice President for Leadership Development and Clinical Mentorship. He is co-founder and director of the Emerging Physician Leadership Program for the UM Medical School.  Dr. Rothenberger is dedicated to improving patient care by increasing collaborations in the healthcare system that enhance quality, safety and delivery of services to all people.  He is dedicated to mentoring future physician leaders, enhancing our profession’s culture and fostering scientific discovery and innovation. His current focus is on physician burnout, resiliency and wellbeing.
